HP-UX 11i v3 - Obtain the WWID of a Tape Device

Abstract

This article explains how to use the scsimgr command get_info option to obtain the World Wide Identification ID (WWID) of a Tape Device on HP-UX 11i v3 Operating Environment.

# scsimgr get_info -D /dev/rtape/<character_tape_device> | grep WWID
NOTE: Replace the <character_tape_device> with the corresponding character device special file.
