Abstract

This articles shows the minimal NFS shares required on the Ignite-UX server to save Ignite-UX clients recovery archives. When this entries are not correctly set, the following error message is very common:

# /opt/ignite/bin/make_net_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -s pnwsux06.janus.cap
.
.
.
       * /opt/ignite/bin/manage_index -q -c 2008-10-09,09:03\ Recovery\ Archive
         -i /var/opt/ignite/recovery/client_mnt/0x001A4B08A390/CINDEX -u
         Recovery\ Archive

ERROR: Cannot access index file: /var/opt/ignite/recovery/client_mnt/0x001A4B08A390/CINDEX: Permission denied
ERROR: Couldn't accomplish the requested operation.

ERROR:   manage_index failed

=======  10/09/08 09:41:05 MDT  make_net_recovery completed unsuccessfully

This is normally because the NFS share points are not configure to allow clients to mount the /var/opt/ignite or the /var/opt/ignite/recover/archives/<client> directories.

Also, you need to check that the files under /var/opt/ignite are owned by bin:bin

HP-UX 11i v1 | v2

1. Verify that /var/opt/ignite and is subdirectories are owned by user bin, group bin.

# chown -R bin:bin /var/opt/ignite

2. Verify that /etc/exports contains at least two configuration lines:

"/var/opt/ignite/clients -anon=2"
"/var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives/<client_hostname> -anon=2,access=<client_hostname>"

3. Share the NFS mount points.

# exportfs -av

4. Verify that hostname is properly resolved

# nsquery hosts <client_hostname>

3. Run the make_net_recovery on your client with verbose mode

# make_net_recovery -v -s <igniteux_hostname> -x inc_entire=vg00

HP-UX 11i v3

1. Verify that /var/opt/ignite and is subdirectories are owned by user bin, group bin.

# chown -R bin:bin /var/opt/ignite

2. Verify that /etc/dfs/dfstab contains at least two configuration lines:

"share -F nfs -o anon=2 /var/opt/ignite"
"share -F nfs -o anon=2,access=<client-FQDN> /var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives/<client>"

3. Share the mount points

# shareall

4. Verify that hostname is properly resolved

# nsquery hosts <client_hostname>

5. Run the make_net_recovery on your client with verbose mode

# make_net_recovery -v -s <igniteux_hostname> -x inc_entire=vg00
