How to recognize a bootable device from the EFI

This article explains how to identified a bootable device by looking the output of the map -r command.

To mapping devices address on the EFI shell, either from Add a boot option or using the map -r command, a bootable device can be recognized by the words fs and Part1. Look at the following example:

In this example, You will need the filesystem device "fs0" to bootup the server.

Shell> fs0:
fs0:\> hpux

Now just boot the system in the desired mode. For example:

hpux:\> boot vmunix
