Contents

Typical reinstallation situation

1. A memory test event fails to arrive to the Event Monitor subsystem.

# /opt/sfm/bin/sfmconfig -t -m
Sending test event for memory monitor.

# evweb eventviewer -L

23 Information 103 System Hard... 2010-04-21 09: This is a t...

2. Other test event, for example the core hardware event correctly arrive.

# /opt/sfm/bin/sfmconfig -t -i
Sending test event for ia64_corehw monitor.

# evweb eventviewer -L

EvArchNo Severity Event # Event Category Archive Time Summary

23 Information 103 System Hard... 2010-04-21 09: This is a t...

Other troubleshooting procedures like swverify SysFaultMgmt, the review of the SFM event log, or the status of the providers, fails to provide any light on the cause of the test event failure to arrive.

Installation Requisites

Installing current version of SysFaultMgmt, like B.07.02.02.02 has to main requisites:

NOTE: The PHKL_34795 has three dependencies: PHCO_38717 - s700_800 11.23 LVM commands patch, PHKL_40487 - s700_800 11.23 LVM Cumulative Patch and PHKL_31500 - s700_800 11.23 Sept04 base patch. The PHKL_31500 is a very large patch that is included with every HP-UX 11i v2 version since September 2004, so it can be excluded from the patch download to save time and space for the installation.

Verify that both pieces are already installed before proceeding to remove and reinstall the SysFaultMgmt product.
