This article show how to obtained the swainv collection script and create a XML software inventory file for use with Software Assistance or the ITRC patch assessment tool.

Obtain the ITRC swainv script

1. Open ITRC upload system information page.

2. Click on the swainv link and Save target as... to your system.

NOTE: As an alternate method, use your favorite FTP Client to directly obtain the file from: ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/export/bin/swainv


Perform the patch assessment

# sh swainv
Copyright (c) Hewlett-Packard 2005-2006.  All rights reserved.

  ./swainv revision: 3.47

This script lists the patches, products, bundles, and filesets found
in a system or depot and packages the information in a file for transfer
to the ITRC or the Response Center.

       * Listing Filesets
       * Listing Products
       * Listing Bundles
       * Inventory written to ./inventory.xml
